Consortium Interdisciplinary, Interdenominational Workshop on Religion and Science: Divine and Human Action in an Emergent World
Join area scholars, teachers and church leaders to discuss issues related to this topic, such as: how do the sciences of particle physics, ecology and chaos theory help illuminate the mystery of God's presence and work? Exhibit, "Remembering John Wesley: An Exhibition Celebrating the 300th Anniversary of his Birth." Dr. Kenneth E. Rowe, curator of the gallery and Professor of Church History, will present a gallery talk on July 1 at 5:00 pm. The exhibit will be displayed from June 2, 2003 through July 25, 2005. Gallery hours are Monday -Thursday, 11 am - 5 pm, Friday, 11 am - 4 pm. It is closed on weekends and holidays. Ecumenical Work Group: "Reconciliation Project: Embracing Differences." Teams of highly motivated leaders will present this project at the College of Preachers to do biblical and theological study on reconciliation, and to learn from leaders here in DC with strong social justice ministries. Each team willl develop its own project to begin back home and then participants will reconvene in May of 2004 to report on the sucess of their projects and to be stimulated by more study, reflection, and group work. However, the second meeting will emphasize global cooperation.

Panel Discussion, "The Challenge of Peace Twenty Years Later: Avenues of Hope for Shaping a Peaceful World." Woodstock celebrates the 20th Anniversary of the U.S. Catholic Bishop's peace pastoral in a world context that has changed radically since 1983. Dr. John Borellli, Associate Director of th "Secretariat for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs at the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, will moderate the discussion. Panelists include: Rev. J. Bryan Hehir, Cynthia Sampson, and Dr. William F. Vendley. The discussion will begin at 8:00 pm in the Bunn Intercultural Center Auditorium at Georgetown Universtiy. Workshop, "Evil: Biblical, Theological, Ethical, and Pastoral Perspectives."
The workshop will be led by Samuel Balentine, Professor of Old testament Studies, Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond; Dawn DeVries, Professor of Systematic Theology, Union-PSCE; Katie Geneva Cannon, Professor of Christian Ethics, Union-PSCE; Charles Brown, Professor of Pastoral Theology, Union-PSCE.
It will address evil as a relational entity that affects our understanding of God, each other, creation, and goodness.
