Dr. Heelan will give a PowerPoint presentation intended to express the participation of the observer-subject in the making of the quantum experience.

 

His background includes a doctorate in theoretical physics, two years of study with Schroedinger, Heisenberg, and Eugene Wigner (all Nobel prize winners in quantum physics), and also a doctorate in philosophy (from Louvain ), specializing in the study of natural science from the perspective of Husserl, Merleau-Ponty, and Heidegger. Dr. Heelan has published about a hundred papers on the philosophy of the quantum theory and on other topics. Most of his interests are to be found in his book, Space-perception and the Philosophy of Science (Berkeley: University of California Press 1983/1987).
