“Peaceful Societies and Non-Warring Social Systems: Insights from Anthropology”

Dr. Douglas Fry
Dr. Fry is a renowned anthropologist and a leading authority on aggression, conflict, and conflict resolution. His presentation will focus on the creation of non-warring peace systems. Illustrations will be drawn not only from non-warring tribes in Brazil but also from the European Union, a political entity deliberately created to halt war within its borders. Dr Fry currently holds two university faculty positions, one at the Åbo Akademi University in Finland and one at the University of Arizona. He is the author of Beyond War: The Human Potential for Peace, (Oxford Univ. Press, 2007).
